About the game

What you do in a play session

Lace up your sandals, general! Rome is in a bit of a pickle, and Julius Caesar is not playing around. News of Roman defeats in Lusitania has hit the capital like a thunderbolt, and now the mission falls to you: recruit the most efficient army to reclaim control of this rebellious Iberian region. But don't think you can just grab any soldier passing by; you'll need a strategic mix of legionaries, doctors to keep your troops standing, gunners, and even those unpredictable barbarian mercenaries who bring a certain chaos to the battlefield.

Lusitania is a snappy, punchy card game, perfect for players who crave strategy without needing a thousand-page rulebook. The heart of the game beats to the rhythm of hand management and set collection. You'll eye the cards available in the training field and ask yourself: 'Do I grab this doctor now to ensure survival, or focus on more mercenaries to boost my score?'. With open drafting, your opponent's gaze is your biggest enemy. If you see them building a gunner combo, it might be time to snatch that crucial card!

The match is a race against time and fate. The game ends immediately when someone hits the 20 victory point mark, or when the musician card appears in the training field, abruptly shifting the rules and forcing an immediate scoring phase. It is a game of quick decisions, where balancing the recruitment of elite soldiers with resource management can mean the difference between eternal glory in Rome or being forgotten in the lands of Lusitania. If you enjoy fast-paced, thematic games that are easy to carry, this is your next challenge!
