Get ready for a quest worthy of the most courageous (or desperate) academics at Miskatonic University! In 'Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection', you and your fellow librarians are summoned by Dr. Henry Armitage for a not-so-simple task: to delve into the dreaded Restricted Collection searching for fragments of lore and pieces of a mysterious sigil. Beware, as this is no casual trip to the library!
The game unfolds over five tense rounds, and each round only concludes when all players have left the library – either voluntarily or by expulsion (and believe me, it happens!). The gameplay is straightforward: on your turn, you select a library card to add to your play area. These cards can be sigil pieces, grimoire fragments, or even graduate students.
Collecting three sigil pieces or five grimoire fragments earns you a valuable lore card. But beware: drawing a duplicate card of either type can get you expelled! Your only salvation is to use your defense cards. Graduate students offer a welcome reprieve, as collecting four allows you to reuse a spent defense card. Additionally, there are sanity cards (black and red) that boost your final score. At the end of the fifth round, the player with the highest score wins. It's a quick game, featuring a 'push your luck' element and 'take that' interaction, perfect for those who enjoy a thematic challenge with accessible rules.
