About the game

What you do in a play session

My Favourite Things lands in the tabletop world as a trick‑taking party hybrid with a dash of group psychology. Each round kicks off with one player proposing a category – anything from "favorite TV shows" to "fruits you would never eat" – and everyone writes down their five top picks and one least‑liked item using dry‑erase markers. Those scribbles become personal cards that go into the pool. When the trick‑taking phase begins, no one knows the true strength of any card; the value is only revealed at the end of the trick, based on the ranking given by the card’s author. Card 1 is highest, 0 lowest, but if 1 and 0 clash in the same trick, the 0 pulls a surprise win. Each play thus becomes a tiny social experiment: does Paul love Power Rangers more than Anthony loves banana milkshake? Does Archie have a soft spot for Italian disco? The deductions spark conversation, laughter, and sometimes unexpected insights about your fellow players. The game supports 3‑6 players, runs about 30 minutes, and has a light weight (1.3/5), making it ideal to start a game night or break the ice at a party. Simple components – blank cards, markers, and a reference sheet – keep costs low and replayability high, as category‑preference combos are virtually endless. If you enjoy games that blend minimal strategy, social interaction, and plenty of laughs, My Favourite Things invites you to get to know the crowd while battling unpredictable tricks.
