About the game
What you do in a play session
Nova Era is that addictive mix of strategy and luck where you guide a civilization from the Stone Age to the space age — all in 90 minutes! The game revolves around colorful dice representing your resources: use them to recruit historical figures (from Einstein to Genghis Khan), develop technologies, or expand territories. But beware: unused dice accelerate natural disasters or the dreaded Dark Age, so every round is a balance between growth and risk. Each era introduces new cards, creating unique combinations. The winner builds the most balanced civilization between technology, culture, and military power. Pro tip: don't underestimate random events — a volcanic eruption can ruin your plans as fast as a clever opponent!

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
Does it work well at 2 players?
Yes, but feels more 'multiplayer solitaire'. At 4, competition for techs/territories gets spicy!
How much translation is needed?
Cards use intuitive icons, but some text needs help (find translated PDFs on BGG forums).
Is it too complex for beginners?
Weight 2.8/5 — best for those familiar with Eurogames. First game is learning, then it flows.
Is it too luck-dependent?
Dice add unpredictability, but strategy matters: you can mitigate bad rolls with technologies.
How does it differ from other civ games?
Focus on dice-as-resources (not classic worker placement) and faster pace than similar titles.
Actual playtime?
Box says 60-90min, but budget 2h for first game. With veterans, wraps in 75min.
Are expansions necessary?
Base game has plenty variety, but watch for promo packs with extra historical figures/techs.
