About the game
What you do in a play session
Progress: Evolution of Technology is a card game that puts you in charge of a civilization, starting in Antiquity and moving forward to the internet age or social welfare. The goal is to research technologies that push your people forward, using 210 cards split into three ages (Ancient, Middle Ages, Industrial) and three branches (Military, Science, Culture). Each card grants a bonus – from an extra knowledge point to a larger hand size – and when researched it reduces the cost of up to three more advanced technologies, creating a domino effect that speeds your race to the end of the game.
The turn flow is lean: each round you receive a handful of Action Points and can take two actions, such as drafting a card from the open pool, playing a technology, or advancing your research track. Hand management and choosing which paths to follow are crucial, as the key technologies appear less often, forcing specialization and granting unique advantages. Since most cards have enough copies for each player, the competition is more about who optimises their research sequence.
Games run 45‑90 minutes and support 1‑5 players, making it great for solo play or small groups. The light design and two‑action‑per‑turn mechanic keep the pace brisk, letting you use opponents' downtime to plan your next move. If you love civilization themes but prefer to focus on tech evolution without the heavyweight empire‑building, Progress offers a strategic, accessible experience with plenty of replay value thanks to the many technology combos and research paths.
