Get ready for a winged race through Odin's realm! In Odin's Ravens, you and one friend take on the roles of two messenger ravens, Huginn and Muninn, sent by Odin himself to explore Midgard. The mission is simple: be the first to return with news and earn the Allfather's favor. But don't be fooled, these birds are clever and have a few tricks up their sleeves!
Each of you will have your own deck of cards, and the goal is to use these cards to match the terrain types appearing on the track ahead of your raven. Matched the terrain? Your raven advances! Missed? You fall behind. The track itself is built with domino-style landscape cards, which change each game, ensuring no two races are the same. Besides the flight cards, you have Odin (or Loki, depending on the edition) cards, which are true trump cards: they allow special actions like messing with the opponent's track, rearranging the path, or even hindering the rival raven.
The game is played over multiple rounds. When a raven crosses the finish line, the round ends, and scoring is calculated. Whoever got closer to the raven that crossed the line earns points, with an extra bonus for those who did best in the 'Magic Way' area, where special cards are accumulated. The game ends when one player reaches 12 points. It's a fast-paced, strategic game full of twists and turns, perfect for those who enjoy a direct and intelligent duel, with a touch of Norse mythology and plenty of hand management.
