Panamax puts you at the helm of a shipping company based in the Colón Free Trade Zone, Panama. Your goal is to turn cargo contracts from the US coasts, China and Europe into profit while investing in your own company's shares to collect dividends each round. The game blends several original mechanics: an action die that decides whether you take contracts, load cargo, or move ships; a bidirectional route where ships advance and can be pushed, creating chain reactions; and cargo delivery along that path, demanding logistical planning to keep transport fees low. Each round ends when the action‑dice pool is empty, and after three rounds the player with the largest personal fortune—combining freight earnings and dividends—wins. Stock holding adds a financial market layer, as a limited number of shares are available and dividends fluctuate with company performance. Player interaction arises both from competing for routes and contracts and from cooperating to free up space in the canal. With a moderate weight (3.8/5) and a playtime of 90–120 minutes, Panamax appeals to fans of economic, transport and moderately strategic games without overwhelming complexity.
