About the game
Picture this: you open your eyes and realize your life has ended. Worse, you're a ghost, hovering over your own body! A group of paranormal detectives gathers, eager to unravel the mystery of your demise. In Paranormal Detectives, a deduction and party game, one player takes on the role of the victim's ghost, while the others are the detectives, working together to uncover the crime's details.

The ghost receives a story card with all the specifics of the murder: who, where, the motive, how, and the weapon. The detectives, in turn, have an asymmetrical set of interaction cards, an investigation sheet, and a player screen to hide their notes. Each round, a detective asks the ghost an open-ended question and plays one of their interaction cards. These cards define how the ghost can respond – and here's the fun part! The ghost can communicate in various creative ways: by arranging a hangman's knot, playing chosen tarot cards, spelling out words on a talking board, drawing by holding a detective's hand, and much more.

This variety of interactions allows for great creativity from both sides. Detectives can attempt to guess what happened up to twice during the game, noting their suspicions. The ghost then secretly indicates how many answers are correct. The game ends when a detective correctly guesses everything (and wins along with the ghost) or when all detectives run out of interaction cards. In that case, the detective with the most correct answers is the sole winner. Oh, and there's a fully cooperative variant in the rulebook, if competition isn't your thing!
