About the game

What you do in a play session

Piepmatz: Little Songbirds is a 20‑to‑40‑minute card game that makes you feel like a caretaker at a bird feeder. Each player starts with a hand of bird cards and, on each turn, chooses one to place on a perch. Then you resolve the interactions: if the newly‑placed bird shares its species with another on the ground, you can grab a seed or add the bird to your collection. If there’s no other of that species, you can move the bird to the feeder, where other birds wait. The goal is to amass seeds, pairs of birds, and be the biggest owner of each species. The game features three core mechanics. First, Hand Management: you must decide which cards to keep in hand and which to play before the deck runs out. Next, Open Drafting kicks in at the end of each turn when you discard two cards and add the remaining two to your collection. This creates direct competition for valuable cards. Finally, Set Collection: completing sets of birds of the same species earns you extra points, encouraging collection and planning. Play ends when someone tries to draw a card from an empty deck. All players get the same number of turns, so the game stays balanced and fast. With a nature theme and cute bird artwork, Piepmatz is a great pick for those who enjoy light games with a hidden layer of strategy. If you love collecting and competing for bird cards, this title will have you singing with joy.
