About the game

What you do in a play session

In Rise of Augustus, you step into the shoes of an aspiring leader in Ancient Rome, in the aftermath of Julius Caesar's tumultuous reign. Your goal is to impress the new Emperor, Augustus, by constructing buildings and fulfilling objectives to gain prestige and become Consul. Here's how it works: each player starts with six objective cards and chooses three to focus on. These cards feature symbols that need to be filled with legionnaires. To get legionnaires, you'll draw tokens from a bag, in a dynamic reminiscent of bingo. Each drawn token benefits all players who need that symbol, but the catch is that some tokens appear more frequently than others. With each completed objective, you gain a bonus and select a new objective card from the available options. The game ends when someone completes seven objectives, crowning the winner as the new Consul. It's a fast-paced game with simple rules that demands strategic decisions about which objectives to pursue and when to take risks to complete them. Interaction arises from the competition for objective cards and the race to be the first to reach the goal. Perfect for those who enjoy games with historical themes, bingo and open drafting mechanics, and a touch of luck that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats. Get ready, because the power struggle in Rome might be more thrilling than you think!
