Hey everyone! Ready to dive into a world of intrigue and bloody combat? Spartacus: A Game of Blood & Treachery throws you right into ancient Roman Capua, where you take on the role of Dominus, the head of a rising house. The goal is clear: accumulate Influence to gain Rome's favor, whether through cunning political schemes or the glory of your gladiators in the arena. Inspired by the original STARZ series, this game is an explosive mix of strategy and betrayal.
Each round is divided into three phases that will keep you on the edge of your seat. First, the Intrigue Phase, where Scheme and Reaction cards are your weapons to sabotage rivals and boost your own house. Here, influence is everything, and don't hesitate to bribe or ask for help to hatch the most complex plots. Next up is the Market Phase, a shopping and selling paradise! Gladiators, slaves, equipment, and guards are traded and auctioned. It's not just about having money, but knowing how to bluff and bargain to acquire the assets you covet. And of course, the icing on the cake: the Arena Phase. This is where the blood boils! Gladiators from rival houses face off in brutal combat represented by miniatures on the arena board. With attack, defense, and speed dice, victory is contested blow by blow. And you, as a good Dominus, can bet on the outcome to fatten your fortune. The ultimate goal? To become the most influential house in Capua, securing your family's power for generations to come. Prepare to bribe, poison, betray, steal, blackmail, and undermine your opponents. Gold will change hands repeatedly to buy support, stay someone's hand, or influence their decisions. Will you be the honorable Dominus or the treacherous schemer? The choice is yours!
