About the game
What you do in a play session
Star Trek: Fleet Captains brings the Prime Universe to the tabletop, letting 2‑4 commanders lead fleets of the Federation or the Klingon Empire. Each player selects a set of ships—represented by Clix miniatures that display weapons, shields, engines and sensors—and chooses a victory‑point total that sets the fleet size. Players then build four command decks from ten options per faction; each deck features iconic characters (Kirk, Picard, Gowron, etc.) and abilities that shape their path to victory. The board is made of modular hex tiles shuffled face‑down, revealed as ships explore, showing planets, nebulae or themed events (like "Trouble with Tribbles"). Missions range from simple combat to complex influence routes, and completing them earns points. Destroying ships or building starbases also grants victory points. The game blends action‑point allocation, dice rolling and tile placement, offering multiple win conditions: combat, exploration, or sector control. A typical session lasts 90‑120 minutes and carries a moderate complexity (weight 3/5), perfect for players who want a strategic challenge without overwhelming depth. The end result feels like an entire Star Trek season, where each turn plays like an episode and the emergent story makes you truly feel like a fleet commander in deep space.
