About the game

What you do in a play session

The Road of Blood and Tears plunges you into the chaos of the South Vietnamese withdrawal from the Central Highlands in March 1975. This solo historical wargame simulates the desperate retreat of II Corps after the fall of Ban Mê Thuột, with orders to abandon Pleiku and Kontum and fall back along Route 7B towards Tuy Hòa. The catch? The PAVN 320th Division is hot on their heels, and the already neglected road becomes a bottleneck of military formations, equipment, and tens of thousands of civilians, all tangled in an endless mess.

You take on the role of the remaining command authority, trying to keep the withdrawal functioning. Unit movement is largely automatic, but your decisions are crucial. With a limited number of Command Points, you must manage the flow of the column: halt parts of the convoy, adjust queue priorities, concentrate road capacity, deploy engineers to clear obstacles, recover disrupted formations, and protect the rear. Congestion, unfinished crossings, limited throughput, and enemy pursuit steadily narrow your choices with each turn.

The game unfolds over eight turns, and your primary goal is to get as much of II Corps, its vital equipment, and the refugee columns as possible to the safety of Tuy Hòa. But be warned, time is short, and both the road and the column can collapse at any moment. Prepare for tough decisions and an immersive experience of survival and strategy under pressure.
