About the game
What you do in a play session
The Vale of Eternity: Artifacts arrives as the first expansion for the beloved Vale of Eternity, adding even more creatures and a splash of mysterious artifacts. Each game kicks off with the hunting phase, where the number of revealed creatures is doubled relative to the player count, giving everyone a richer pool to build their deck. Then comes the artifact draft: starting with the first player, each participant places their marker on an artifact they don’t already own, preventing the same item from being taken in consecutive rounds. Artifacts come in three flavors – some trigger immediate effects, others grant a permanent bonus for the whole round, and a few provide a single-use action that can be played on any turn. After the artifact draft, the usual creature draft proceeds as in the base game. The presence of artifacts raises the victory threshold to 80 points, though the game still ends after ten rounds regardless of scores. This higher target adds a bit more length and strategic depth, pushing players to plan not only creature collections but also how their chosen artifacts synergize. With a light weight (2.33) and a 40‑to‑60‑minute playtime, the expansion remains approachable for 2‑4 players who already enjoy the core game and want extra variety without a steep learning curve. In short, Artifacts deepens hand‑management and market choices while preserving the smooth flow that made Vale of Eternity a hit.
