About the game
What you do in a play session
Ticket to Ride: First Journey delivers the classic train‑connecting experience to a younger crowd. The board depicts a map of the United States with colored routes linking major cities. Each player starts with four train cards and two tickets, each ticket showing two cities that must be linked by a continuous chain of your trains. On your turn you may draw two train cards or discard cards to claim a route, paying the exact color and number of spaces required. When you complete a ticket you reveal it, score, and draw a new one. If you’re stuck, you can discard unwanted tickets and draw two fresh ones. Claiming a path that stretches from the West Coast to the East Coast grants an extra “Coast‑to‑Coast” ticket. The game ends when a player places all twenty of their trains or when someone finishes six tickets; the player with the most completed tickets wins. Playtime is 15‑30 minutes, rules are simple, and it supports 2‑4 players, making it perfect for families and kids new to strategy games. Components include plastic train pieces, colored train cards, destination tickets, and a fold‑out board. The mechanics blend hand management, network building, and set collection, offering a tactile, visual experience without overwhelming complexity. Whether you’re a Ticket to Ride fan or looking for a gentle gateway into board gaming, First Journey captures the railway‑expansion thrill in a compact, kid‑friendly package.
