About the game
Get ready for a super cute and strategic tea party with Tidepool Teaparty, a solo card game that puts you in the shell of a dreamy hermit crab! As the tide recedes, you sit in your tidepool and daydream about who you'd invite to an underwater tea party, full of friends and special guests. The forty-card deck features four adorable families of sea creatures — Urchins, Anemones, Starfish, and Snails — each numbered 1 to 10, bringing a familiar touch of classic card games.

The core mechanic of Tidepool Teaparty is inspired by the traditional card game Cassino, where your actions are crucial. Each turn, you choose from three moves: 'Welcome guests,' capturing cards from the tidepool that match your played card's value or sum to it; 'Gather,' combining cards into groups to be welcomed later; or 'Introduce,' placing a card into the tidepool. But beware, the tide has its own plans! Between your turns, it flips cards and sweeps back to sea everything it can match or sum to, except for the magnificent Starfish, which remains untouched.

At the start of each game, you commit to two 'Afternoon' cards, representing your hermit crab's wishes for the party. This could be gathering one creature from each family, forming a run of consecutive guests, or having a table full of only one type. You win if you fulfill both wishes before the deck runs out and the tide fully returns. Fulfilling one wish already guarantees a lovely afternoon. Additionally, the game offers 'Daydreams,' themed challenges for a year of seasons, with fixed wishes and a harder one, plus optional variants to increase difficulty, such as committing to three wishes or speeding up the tide. It's a charming and decision-filled solo experience!
