Attribute tests, not summed values
Mansions of Madness 2nd edition does not sum die values. Each test rolls a number of D8 equal to the investigator's attribute, and what matters is how many show the success symbol. A high result on one die is worth no more than another.
That changes how the roll is read: the number that matters is the count of symbols, not the total. The tool shows individual results precisely so that count is immediate.
Since the companion app asks for the number of successes, having the dice on screen next to the tablet avoids hunting for physical dice across a table full of components.
