Dice and symbols — Imperial Assault
| Attack dice | Red, Blue, Green, Yellow |
|---|---|
| Defense dice | Black, White |
| Damage | reduces target health |
| Surge | spent on card abilities |
| Accuracy | must reach the distance to the target |
| Block / Evade / Dodge | reduce damage, cancel surge or negate the attack |
The order the roll resolves in
An attack in Imperial Assault rolls attack and defense dice at the same time, but resolution has an order. First check accuracy: in ranged attacks, total accuracy must reach the distance in spaces to the target, otherwise the attack misses entirely regardless of damage rolled.
Once accuracy is met, surges are spent on card abilities, which can add damage or apply effects. Only then is the result compared against defense: block reduces damage, evade cancels surges and dodge negates the whole attack.
The white die's dodge is the harshest case: it cancels the attack completely, no matter how much damage was rolled. That is why the roll must be read in order rather than summed all at once.
