About the game
What you do in a play session
In Trinket Trove you play as a tiny rodent living in the forgotten corners of human homes. When moonlight filters in, these collectors scurry to the quietest nooks hunting for glittering trinkets – mirrored lockets, shiny buttons, gleaming gems, and more. Each game starts with four trinket cards in your hand. A face‑up pool of cards is placed in the center, forming the "treasure pot".
Before grabbing anything, players bid for the draft order by offering cards from their own hand as payment. The highest‑value bid gets to pick first, and play proceeds in bid order. Then, in turn, each player selects a card from the pot – even taking a bid another player placed if it helps complete a set.
The goal is to assemble sets of matching items; after five or six rounds you total the points of the cards in your hand. Well‑formed sets and rare items score big, while stray cards are worth little. Open drafting lets everyone see what’s available, creating tension for blocking and planning. The auction‑style turn order adds a negotiation twist that makes every decision matter.
With simple rules, 30‑minute playtime, and charming components – cute rodent art and miniature trinkets – Trinket Trove is perfect for fans of light, thematic games that offer a dash of strategy without the headache. Great for families, friends, and even newcomers to card games.
