Get ready for an epic journey of galactic conquest in Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition, a game that invites three to six strategists to take control of one of seventeen unique factions. Each faction offers a completely distinct gameplay experience, from the enigmatic Ghosts of Creuss, masters of wormhole travel, to the cunning Emirates of Hacan, who dominate galactic trade and economics. The objective is clear: sit on the throne of Mecatol Rex and become the new sovereign of the galaxy, whether through military might, political shrewdness, or economic negotiation. And the coolest part is that no two games are ever the same! At the start of each game, the board is strategically assembled with 51 galaxy tiles, which include lush planets, supernovas, asteroid fields, and gravity rifts. Players receive these tiles and, in turns, build the galaxy around Mecatol Rex, the capital planet in the center of the board. An ion storm might hinder your plans, while a well-placed gravity rift could be your salvation. The galaxy is yours to shape and dominate. A round begins with players selecting one of eight strategy cards, which determine player order and grant a unique strategic action for the round. These actions can range from providing extra command tokens to allowing control of trade across the galaxy. Afterward, players move their fleets, claim new planets, wage wars, and negotiate with other factions. At the end of the turn, everyone gathers in a grand council to pass new laws and agendas, which can change the course of the game in unexpected ways. Victory is achieved by accumulating objective points. Initially, ten public objectives are set and gradually revealed. Additionally, each player receives two secret objectives, which are worth victory points only for those who complete them. These objectives can range from researching new technologies to invading a neighbor's home system. Each turn, you can claim one public and one secret objective. The game continues with new objectives being revealed and distributed, maintaining the dynamic and tension until one player reaches ten victory points. Prepare for hours of intense strategy and intergalactic diplomacy!
