Prepare yourself to dive into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic between 1941 and 1943. In Wolfpack, you take command of German submarines with the critical mission of intercepting and sinking Allied merchant convoys. The experience is intensely tactical and cooperative: if playing solo, you manage 2 to 4 submarines; in a group, each player commands their own vessel, coordinating attacks to maximize the tonnage sunk.
The game is not just about firing torpedoes, but about the tension of infiltration. You must maneuver stealthily to penetrate the Allied escort screen without being detected. Once in position, the technical part begins: you must calculate firing angles and use the TDC (torpedo data computer) to ensure a precise hit. Be careful, though, as the AI-controlled escort ships are relentless and will do everything to send you to the bottom of the ocean.
Crisis management is constant. You'll need to issue orders to your crew to contain flooding, put out fires, or treat casualties, all while deciding whether to maintain absolute silence or risk an aggressive attack. Weather and time of day affect visibility, creating a 'fog of war' that makes identifying targets a challenge.
The highlight is the campaign system. Your pack's progress is persistent: the more ships you sink, the more experience you earn to invest in crew improvements, making your submarines more efficient in future patrols. The game utilizes a unique card system to resolve most effects, complementing detailed player boards that track everything from depth to hull damage. It is a dense simulator, ideal for those seeking historical realism and the pressure of commanding a submarine military operation.
