About the game

What you do in a play session

World Without End is a strategy game that takes you back to Kingsbridge, but 200 years after the classic Pillars of the Earth. You and the other players assume the role of citizens who must take care of everything: building structures, trading goods, maintaining faith, feeding the populace, and, of course, dealing with the plague that can strike at any time. Each turn reveals an event, changing the scenario and demanding quick decisions – it’s like the book itself is being written in real time.

The Hand Management mechanic makes you keep cards of resources and actions in hand, deciding when to use what you have. Random Production adds an element of unpredictability, reminding that not everything can be planned in a medieval city. The ultimate goal is to accumulate victory points, earned by building structures, caring for the sick, and keeping the crown’s loyalty. You also have to pay tributes in each chapter, adding extra pressure.

The game supports 2 to 4 players, lasts between 90 and 120 minutes, and is considered moderately complex – it’s not as simple as a card game, but not as heavy as a 3‑hour board game. Components include a detailed Kingsbridge board, event cards, resource tokens, building pieces, and faith markers. The artwork faithfully captures the medieval atmosphere, with illustrations evoking the grandeur of a cathedral under construction.

If you enjoy games that blend planning, luck, and a good dose of history, World Without End offers an engaging challenge and an experience that feels like living in the Middle Ages. Get ready to build, trade, pray, and maybe survive a plague outbreak.

The game’s premise is clear: manage resources, respond to unexpected events, and compete for victory points in a rich, narrative setting. It’s the perfect continuation for those who loved Pillars of the Earth and want to dive deeper into Kingsbridge life.
