About the game
In Wreck Raiders, you and your fellow divers embark on an underwater expedition to recover treasures from pirate wrecks. The board represents the ocean floor, divided into numbered spaces from 1 to 6, and each player controls multiple divers that can be sent to these spaces. The core mechanic blends dice, closed drafting, and worker placement: before each turn, all players pick a die from the pool and then send a diver to the space that matches the die’s number. That move isn’t just for you; adjacent spaces also benefit any diver that’s there, whether it’s yours or an opponent’s, creating risk‑vs‑reward decisions. While collecting treasure pieces, you can display them in museum exhibits or keep them in your personal collection for victory points. There’s also the option to place items in the bay to build aquariums. Each item type is worth different coins, and the ultimate goal is to amass the most coins at the game’s end. The pace is quick, with games lasting about 45 minutes, and the game supports 1 to 5 players, with a solo experience that remains fun thanks to solitaire rules. Components include colorful dice, diver tokens, treasure cards, and aquarium pieces, all in a visual design reminiscent of a sea map. If you enjoy games that mix placement strategy, resource collection, and friendly competition, Wreck Raiders offers a unique experience that makes you feel like a true underwater treasure hunter. The game was released in 2019, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, and has been praised for its vibrant art and high‑quality components. The dice are durable plastic with treasure symbols, while diver tokens come in distinct colors for easy identification. Treasure cards feature playful descriptions and illustrate each item players can collect. The box contains everything you need to start diving: dice, tokens, cards, board, aquarium pieces, and a well‑organized rulebook. The game system encourages interaction among players, as choosing a die can open opportunities for opponents, making each decision strategic. Even when the game ends, players can compare collections and discuss which treasures were worth pursuing.
