About the game
In 1001 Islands, you step into the shoes of one of Sinbad's children, embarking on a quest to explore a mysterious archipelago and uncover the treasures left behind by your seafaring father. This board game is an exciting race against time and your opponents, where every decision matters across 16 rounds of pure strategy. The goal is straightforward: accumulate the most points by cleverly matching 'Dream' tiles with the 'Island' tiles you build on your personal board.

Each round features an open drafting dynamic. You draw a number of tiles equal to the number of players, choose one to add to your island or your dreams, and pass the remaining ones to an opponent of your choice. The last player to receive tiles, while having no choice, gets the honor (and responsibility) of starting the next round. The final scoring heavily relies on how you manage your dreams: a 'Fennec Fox Dream' tile is only worthwhile if you have foxes on your island! Conversely, palm trees and the pairing of a Rukh bird with its egg guarantee points. Beware of bandits, as too many can cost you dearly! And if luck (or misfortune) grants you a third Magic Lamp, prepare to flip tiles and lose precious points.

With accessible rules and quick gameplay, 1001 Islands is a great choice for families and players seeking a light experience with interesting tactical decisions. It's a game that rewards planning and adaptation, where draft luck meets building strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the average playtime for 1001 Islands?
A game typically lasts around 30 minutes, making it quite agile for the number of decisions involved.
Is 1001 Islands really a children's game?
Yes! It's classified as a children's game, but the drafting mechanic and strategic scoring also appeal to adults looking for something lighter.
How does scoring work at the end of the game?
You score based on the 'Dream' tiles you collected, but they only grant points if the corresponding elements are visible on your 'Island'. Palm trees and the Rukh/Egg pair always score, but too many bandits will make you lose points.
What happens if I get the third Magic Lamp?
Upon acquiring the third Magic Lamp, you must flip two tiles on your island face down, hiding what was on them and losing the points they would have provided.
Do I need to know how to read to play?
No! The game has no language dependency, as all information is conveyed through the tile illustrations.
Is this a competitive or cooperative game?
It's competitive. The goal is to achieve the highest individual score at the end of the 16 rounds.
