About the game
What you do in a play session
In Artifacts, Inc., you step into the shoes of an entrepreneurial archaeologist in 1929 New York, a golden age for relic discovery! With museums eager for new finds and you hungry for adventure, your mission is to establish the nation's most renowned archaeology company. Prepare to brave dense jungles, scorching deserts, and imposing mountains in search of lost treasures. The objective is clear: accumulate the most reputation and become a legend in the field.
The game revolves around dice rolls representing your team of explorers. You'll use these dice to perform various actions: finding valuable artifacts, selling them to prestigious institutions, and expanding your company with new cards that offer benefits and abilities. Strategy is key: you can focus on profiting from item sales, dominating museum influence, optimizing your combination of expeditions and buildings, or venturing into underwater quests for forgotten cities. The first player to reach 20 reputation points signals the end of the game, but it's the total accumulated reputation that determines the ultimate winner.
Artifacts, Inc. dynamically blends mechanics like worker placement (with dice!), dice rolling, resource management, and set collection. The variable setup ensures each game presents a new challenge, and player interaction primarily occurs through competition for action spaces and museum influence. It's a medium-weight game, ideal for those who enjoy adventure and exploration themes with a touch of economic strategy.
