About the game

What you do in a play session

Chimera Station puts a fresh spin on the worker placement genre by letting you build your own workers. Each alien can be fitted with claws, tentacles, leaves or extra brains – in any combination – during the game, changing what it can do. These workers are used to gather the usual resources – points, food, credits – and also to acquire additional appendages that further expand your options. Meanwhile, you expand the space station by placing tiles. There are 12 standard action spaces and another 40 expansion modules that appear as you build, creating a modular board full of strategic pathways. The game includes 22 special abilities, 16 different ways to customize your alien workers and four distinct races, ensuring each playthrough feels fresh. Artwork by Brian Patterson (of the d20Monkey webcomic) adds a colorful, tongue‑in‑cheek sci‑fi vibe. With a playtime of 60‑90 minutes and a moderate complexity (weight 3.14/5), Chimera Station appeals to both strategy lovers and those who enjoy customizing pieces. The standout component is the mutable worker pieces, giving the classic worker placement a near‑RPG feel as you tweak your alien army throughout the game. In short, it blends modular board building, resource management and a lot of creativity in worker design, all set in a fun space‑station setting.
