About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for a fierce struggle for global control in the 18th century with Colonial 1700-1800! This strategic card game puts you in command of a European power fighting to expand and defend its colonial empire. In the basic game, France and Great Britain face off in epic battles, but with expansions, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands join the fray, allowing for up to 5 players in a war of influence.
Each game is divided into 5 intense turns, where you'll need to manage your resources wisely. Defend your colonies, encourage the production of valuable export goods, and recruit troops to conquer new territories across fronts like North America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Your personal player board is your command center: recruit reinforcements, build strategic buildings, capture enemy generals for ransom, and, of course, fill your treasury and warehouses with goods that guarantee maximum gold and victory points.
Colonial 1700-1800 blends the best of both worlds: the efficiency and planning of Eurogames, with mechanics like set collection and hand management, with the adrenaline and direct confrontation of Wargames. Battle resolution is handled by cards, adding a crucial tactical element. The player with the most victory points at the end of the campaign is crowned the ultimate winner. It's a medium-weight game, ideal for those who enjoy strategy with a historical twist and plenty of territorial disputes. Prepare to negotiate, attack, and defend your legacy!
