About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to wake up from the worst nightmare of your life! In Crown of Ash, peace was nothing more than a hundred-year illusion. The Lords have finally awakened from a deep, dark slumber, and they didn't come back with good intentions. Forget diplomacy; what they discovered in the depths of oblivion was the forbidden secret of necromancy. Now, the goal is simple and brutal: raise armies of the undead and ensure you are the only one to claim the throne of the Crown of Ash.

This is an intense strategic struggle where you take on the role of a vengeful necromancer. Your mission is to manage your minions to collect resources, build imposing structures, and expand your domain. But don't think it'll be easy: you'll need a solid worker placement strategy to ensure your actions are efficient before your rivals can act. Over four frantic rounds, you'll have to decide whether to focus on developing your kingdom or march your undead armies to crush your opponents' structures.

Conflict resolution happens dynamically, using strategic card play to decide who dominates the battlefield. Additionally, the game features a stat-based turn order mechanic, adding an extra layer of planning: acting first offers an advantage, but it might cost you dearly in the long run. Area majority is key, as whoever maintains the most influence over the lands and structures at the end of the conflict will be the absolute ruler of the realm. If you love dark themes, resource management, and the satisfaction of seeing your undead army dominate the map, Crown of Ash is your next obsession!
