Dog & Cat The Team is a quick card game that pits you and your friends in two animal squads—dogs and cats—competing to shed your hand first. Each game starts with a shuffled deck and five cards dealt to every player (seven cards when there are only two or three participants). The first player may play any card; from then on, the next player must lay a card of the same number or higher than the one just played, or use a special card that breaks the sequence. When you play a normal card, you can play one or two cards that share the same value, but only if they’re paired with the “milk” card and an animal—dogs and cats can’t be mixed in the same turn. If you can’t or don’t want to play, simply pass; you can choose to draw a card or not. A key detail: when you’re left with just one card in hand, you must shout “Woof!” if you’re on the dog team or “Meow!” if you’re on the cat team. Forgetting to do so earns you an extra card as a penalty. The goal is to finish your cards before the others; whoever runs out wins the round and receives a point chip that matches the suit of the last card played. The game only has three rounds, so the pace is fast. Each team tallies points, and the one with the most at the end wins. In addition to hand‑management and ladder‑climbing mechanics, the game offers variable player powers that add a dash of strategy. The deck contains 60 cards split into four suits—Dogs, Cats, Milk, and Neutral—each with values from 1 to 10. There are also special cards that let you swap, skip, or force an opponent to draw. Each player starts with a power card that can be used once per round, such as “Swap two cards” or “Block the next turn.” These abilities differ among players, adding an element of unpredictability. The ladder climb works like a “pass‑the‑bomb” game, where the highest card controls the next move. The final objective is to collect the most point chips, marked in distinct colors for each team. The game is designed for 2‑6 players, but shines with 3‑5, keeping the team dynamic lively. With a playtime of about 15 minutes, it’s perfect for quick sessions or a break between other games. If you enjoy animal‑themed card games, light strategy, and team competition, Dog & Cat The Team is a fun pick.
