About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a somewhat… chaotic journey through time in Epoch Struggle, a two-player deck-building card game where you, a mad scientist, must restore order to the universe – or at least try! Here’s the story: you built a time machine, pressed a giant button, and poof, your reality turned upside down. Now, your lab looks like a pirate ship, and there's an eyepatch-wearing fellow yelling at you. Looks like it's going to be a long day, huh?

In Epoch Struggle, the main mechanic is deck building and… deck removal. That's right! You start with a deck full of weaker cards. Each round, you travel to a specific Era (Past, Present, or Future) and use the energy from your cards to buy new, more powerful cards from that Era's Market. These new cards can do a lot of things: increase your purchasing power, disrupt your opponent, or even influence which Eras players can travel to.

To win, the key is to 'Sync' cards, moving them from your hand into your Timelines. A Synced card is removed from your deck. This is the big twist: removing a powerful card might bring you closer to victory, but it also means losing access to it for future plays. On the flip side, some cards only activate their stronger effects when they are Synced. The constant tension each turn is deciding: use the card for its immediate action, Sync it to advance a victory condition, or use its purchasing power to buy more stuff? It's a strategic dance between the short and long term that will really make you think!
