About the game
In Fool's Gold, you're not just a prospector, you're a visionary investor during the 1849 Gold Rush! Your mission? Send your crew of prospectors to explore locations brimming with gold, gems, and... silt. Oh, the silt! The more gold you extract, the more it appears, making life harder for those who follow. Each year (round) of the game brings more coins and more prospectors for you to expand your business, but time is short: you have only five years to prove your worth.

The game is divided into two phases: Prospecting and Mining. During Prospecting, the starting player rolls ten dice and places them on mine paths, competing for spaces with other players. You can invest in a path, pay to place a wild die, or even retreat and take your coins back. Whoever has more prospectors and is further along the path gets priority when it's time to mine.

In Mining, things get serious! You choose what to take: gold cards, unique gems (be careful not to pick duplicates!), or extra coins to boost your funds. But beware: at the end of the game, the most abundant gold you collected might be disqualified for being... fool's gold! Plus, there's scoring for your gem collection. Whoever amasses the most points wins!

Fool's Gold blends dice rolling, worker placement, and a touch of "push your luck" with commodity speculation. It's a game that demands planning but doesn't shy away from a good risk. Ideal for those who enjoy exploration and resource-rush themes, with a dash of bad luck and plenty of guaranteed fun.
