About the game
Get ready to travel back to 64 A.D., when a devastating fire consumed much of Rome, including the imperial palace. As one of Emperor Nero's right-hand people, your mission is clear: rebuild the city from the ashes and restore glory to Rome! Glory to Rome is a super clever card-based city-building and resource management game that throws tough decisions at you every turn. Each card here is a Swiss Army knife: it can be a building, a client, raw material, or a valuable resource. So, which function will you choose for it? The game is a master at making you think, as much of the action happens in the discard pile, adding an extra layer of control over what your opponents can grab. Actions are triggered by a dynamic role selection system: the active player chooses a role, and others can 'follow' the action by discarding a matching card. Those who don't follow can 'think' and draw more cards, creating constant and strategic interaction. Scoring comes from a combination of completed buildings and stored resources, with end-game bonuses for those with a diverse collection. Game length is player-controlled and can end in several ways, which keeps the tension high. Oh, and if you prefer more classic artwork, keep an eye out for non-English editions, as the famous 'black box' has a more minimalist look.
