About the game
In 122 AD, Roman Emperor Hadrian Augustus, while visiting the North of Britannia, witnessed the devastating aftermath of war between his legions and the fierce Picts. To demonstrate Rome's might and protect its borders, he ordered the construction of a monumental wall, stretching 80 Roman miles, separating the Pictish tribes from the rest of England. This grand fortification, known as Hadrian's Wall, served the Roman Empire for nearly three centuries before its eventual decline. Today, Hadrian's Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the remains of its forts, towers, and turrets can still be explored.

In *Hadrian's Wall*, you take on the role of a Roman General tasked with constructing a milecastle (a small fort) and an adjacent section of the wall. Over six years (rounds), your mission is to build and strengthen your fortification, man the defenses against Pictish attacks, and attract civilians by constructing services and providing entertainment. All while defending the honor and glory of the Roman Empire.

The game is a race to accumulate the most renown, piety, valor, and discipline, while avoiding disdain. The General who best balances these elements and proves to be an exemplary Roman citizen will be crowned *Legatus Legionis* by the Emperor. Prepare your pen and paper, as strategy and resource management will be crucial for success in this epic roll & write endeavor!
