About the game
Get ready for a clash of titans! Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage puts you in command of two of Antiquity's greatest powers in an asymmetrical conflict where brute force isn't everything. Here, war is viewed through the Clausewitzian lens: military violence is merely the last resort when diplomacy and politics fail. The ultimate goal isn't just to annihilate the enemy, but to achieve total political dominance.

The heart of the game is the card system, inspired by the classic 'We the People'. You'll use Strategy Cards to manage almost everything: moving your generals across the map, levying new troops, reinforcing existing armies, and, crucially, contesting the political control of the provinces. Additionally, these cards can trigger historical events that shift the tide of the match. But what happens when blood starts to flow? When two armies clash, the game shifts gears and a second deck comes into play: the Battle Cards. These are used to resolve combat, adding a layer of tension and tactical depth to the battlefield.

This is a heavy-weight game, ideal for those who love deep historical simulations and don't mind spending a few hours planning every move. You'll need to balance the military front with political influence, as winning battles without securing the necessary political control is a quick path to defeat. If you enjoy the era of the Punic Wars and want to feel the pressure of Hannibal crossing the Alps or Rome trying to contain the Carthaginian threat, this is your game. Just be aware that the complexity is high and the language dependency is strong, so have your translation ready to avoid getting lost in the maneuvers!
