About the game
In Ruins is a dungeon‑building and storytelling game that brings together 1 to 6 players in an epic castle‑ruins adventure. At the start, everyone creates a castle story from a central throne room, adding rooms, treasures, and special items of varying value. As the plot unfolds, disasters strike and players can destroy or damage opponents’ areas, adding strategic tension to the game. After each damage phase, players use their factions to capture the most valuable rooms in the dungeon, aiming to reclaim the ancient throne and win. The Area Majority / Influence mechanic makes every placement decision crucial, while the Map Addition feature lets the board evolve, creating a dynamic setting that changes each round. Paper‑and‑Pencil adds an improvisational touch, as players write and draw strategies on sheets, keeping the pace light and interactive. For solo fans, the Solo / Solitaire Game mode adapts the experience for a single player, preserving the same depth of decision. The game is easy to set up, using standard playing cards and can be printed at home, making it accessible and budget‑friendly. Sessions typically last between 120 and 180 minutes, with a medium complexity that requires focus on area control and evolving narrative. If you enjoy building worlds, rich storytelling, and influence battles, In Ruins will keep you hooked at every stage of the castle’s construction.
