About the game

What you do in a play session

In Legendary Inventors each player leads a squad of four historic geniuses—think Einstein, Gutenberg or Tesla—and tries to turn their knowledge into world‑changing inventions. The game unfolds over three ages, each representing a bigger technological leap, and the inventions get progressively more intricate. On your turn you may either send an inventor to work on a project or refresh all of them, making them available again. When you dispatch an inventor you apply his or her skill values—Einstein starts with four Physics, Gutenberg with two Mechanics—against the invention’s requirements, marking progress with colored cubes. Once an invention is completed, the three players who contributed the most reap the rewards. You can either patent the invention, placing the card in front of you, or take reward tokens to upgrade your inventors, earn extra victory points, or add extra knowledge to the project. An age ends when only two inventions remain unfinished, triggering the next age. After the third age the player with the most victory points—earned from patents, inventor upgrades, and invention bonuses—wins. The game blends set collection (the inventions), action retrieval (refreshing inventors), area influence (claiming the most valuable inventions) and variable player powers (each inventor’s unique abilities). It’s a light, 30‑40 minute experience for 2‑5 players, perfect for fans of history, science and a dash of strategic competition without heavy complexity.
