In Lorenzo il Magnifico, you take on the role of the head of a noble family in Renaissance Florence, striving for prestige and fame to become the most influential in the city. The game casts you as a powerful patron, much like Lorenzo de' Medici himself, guiding your family towards glory.
Each round, three dice are rolled, determining the value of your family members who will be sent to perform various actions around the city. This is where the strategy kicks in: where will you allocate your most valuable family members? They can go to different areas to collect essential resources, acquire development cards representing new territories, sponsored buildings, influential characters, or lucrative ventures, or even activate the effects of these cards to boost your progress.
But a noble's life isn't just about earthly power! You also need to maintain a good relationship with the Church. The game is divided into three periods, each with two rounds. At the end of each period, those who haven't shown enough faith suffer severe penalties. After six intense rounds of decisions and planning, victory points are tallied, and the player with the highest score is crowned the Magnificent. With multiple paths to victory and the constant tension of the Church relationship, Lorenzo il Magnifico offers a robust and engaging eurogame experience where every choice matters.
