About the game
What you do in a play session
Mega Empires: The West is an epic empire‑building game designed for 5 to 9 players who want to dive into history, from the Stone Age to the late Iron Age, all centered on the Mediterranean Sea. Each game starts with a population token in the Stone Age and gradually expands your territory, conquers cities, trades, and develops civil advancements. The core of the game is trade: commodity and calamity cards are negotiated in dynamic rounds where bluffing, betting and bribery come into play. By controlling the right cards and negotiating effectively, you’ll earn resources that can be invested in 51 advancements, from Metallurgy to Enlightenment, unlocking benefits and discounts for future purchases. The strategy is two‑fold: dominate the map and control the cards. The game runs simultaneously, so all players progress at the same time, keeping the pace fast even in large groups. Playtime can reach 12 hours, but most games finish in 4 to 6 hours depending on player count. Mega Empires: The West also pairs with The East for up to 18 players, and several expansions add miniatures, new cards, and pirate rules. If you enjoy deep strategy, intense negotiations, and lots of interaction, this is your next challenge. After all, who just wants to play? Who wants to live history?
