We're around 900 AD, and Western Francia is a mess — Saracens raid the borders, Vikings plunder everything, and even the Byzantines are being unpleasant. As nobles of the city, you need to gather workers, build fortifications, spread faith, and defend the realm's edges. Naturally, the king sent his best paladins to help out. All of this translates into victory points: build outposts, commission monks, face off against threats. Each round you pick a paladin with unique abilities and then place workers on available actions — each worker type opens different paths. As the game progresses, faith, strength, and influence grow, affecting both your final score and the weight of your decisions. The open market lets you buy what you need whenever you want, with prices shifting based on supply. The game ends after the seventh round, with end-game bonuses that can flip the scoreboard. There's a solo mode, but the real experience is with two to four players, trading strategic jabs over market picks and paladin choices.

How long does a game take?
Between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on player count and table pace.
Can it be played solo?
Yes, there are solo rules. It works, but loses a lot of the competitive tension.
What's the complexity level?
Medium-high — weight 3.71/5. Not the heaviest in the genre, but you need to pay attention to the mechanics.
What are the paladins and why do they matter?
They're special knights chosen each round. Each one changes what you can do and how your workers behave.
Is it for worker placement fans?
Right in the sweet spot — worker placement with different worker types, open market, and tableau building. If you like the genre, you'll feel at home.
Are there many complex components?
Quite a few pieces, including control boards and paladin cards. Setup takes about 10-15 minutes.
