About the game
What you do in a play session
Small Railroad Empires is a breezy, fast‑paced game for 1‑4 players that puts you in the shoes of a budding rail magnate. On your turn you place two trains onto the modular board, paying gold for the terrain your tracks cross – hills cost more than plains, so route planning matters. Once a track connects a producing industry to a city that needs that good, you dispatch a train to deliver it and earn gold based on the track’s length. But the real race is for prestige: achievements such as being the first to make four deliveries or to build three tunnels grant extra prestige points. When everyone runs out of tracks to lay, the game ends and the player with the most prestige wins. Hexagonal grid and modular board ensure a fresh map each time, while open drafting of trains and routes gives plenty of strategic depth. Variable player powers add a personal twist, making each session feel distinct. Combining track‑laying, set collection, and pick‑up‑and‑deliver mechanics in a 30‑60 minute playtime, it’s perfect for fans of transport games who want a light yet engaging experience.
