Here, you take on the role of a commander exploring the galaxy, starting with two starbases at strategic intersections between planets. Each round, a dice roll dictates which planets produce essential resources like dilithium, tritanium, food, oxygen, and water. With these resources in hand, the goal is to build starships to expand your network across the galaxy, establish new bases and outposts to optimize your collection, and acquire development cards that grant victory points or special abilities. But beware! Rolling a 7 can bring a Klingon ship to disrupt production on a planet and confiscate resources from those holding too many. The major difference in this version lies in the Support Cards, inspired by iconic Star Trek characters like Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. Each card grants a unique ability that can boost your actions, such as facilitating trades or protecting your resources, adding an extra layer of strategy and customization.
