About the game

What you do in a play session

In Steamwatchers, the Europe we know has given way to a frozen continent, the result of a brutal ice age that followed a catastrophic rise in water levels. In this hostile scenario, nomadic clans desperately struggle for survival, relying on the mysterious and regular steam columns that erupt from underground. These columns are proof of intense geothermal heat sources, capable of melting the ice and allowing food cultivation – vital oases, but unfortunately, ephemeral. To further complicate the lives of survivors, a strange disease known as 'The Bane' spreads near these heat sources, affecting both mind and body with no known cure. Dealing with this threat is crucial for the continuation of the clans. You take on the leadership of one of these nomadic clans, in games for 2 to 5 players, where the objective is to dominate Europe's geothermal resources. The game unfolds in scenarios lasting 3 to 6 rounds. Victory is usually awarded to the clan with the most geothermal resources (steam columns and farms) at the end of the scenario. However, a clan can claim instant victory if it accumulates 10 geothermal resources before the scenario ends, adding a layer of urgency and strategy to your quest for power and survival.
