Strife: Legacy of the Eternals

In Strife: Legacy of the Eternals, the world of Aerim is the stage for an endless conflict, where you assume the role of one of the Eternals, immortal beings who wage a secret war from the shadows. Your mission is to summon champions to battle against those of your ancient foes, harnessing the legacy of their deeds to empower the next warriors. It's a cycle that repeats, and for the Eternals, strife is the only constant.

This is a two-player strategy card game, with matches lasting about an hour. An interesting feature is perfect information: you always know what options your opponent has. The real challenge lies in mastering the unique combo-creating gameplay of your champions and, of course, outsmarting your adversary. Both players start with the same hand of ten champions and simultaneously play them to contend for key locations across Aerim, which are worth varying victory points.

Each champion possesses two abilities: a battle ability, triggered during confrontations, and a legacy ability, which can only be used when the champion is on top of the legacy pile. This dynamic creates an intricate strategic network, as each champion must be considered not only for what they can do in the current battle but also for the ability they will offer to the next. To further spice up critical decisions, there's the Fatestone tie-breaking system. The Fatestone starts with a value of one, and whoever holds it loses all ties. However, that player can pass it to their opponent to claim a victory in that tie, but doing so increases the Fatestone's value by one. At the end of the game, the player holding the Fatestone adds its final value to their victory point tally. The player with the most victory points wins!
