About the game
What you do in a play session
Supremacy: The Game of the Superpowers pits up to six mighty nations against each other in a worldwide struggle for military and economic dominance. Each player starts with a predefined superpower, controlling a mix of land, sea and neutral territories. The global‑scale board features a stock‑market style chart that tracks the price of three basic commodities – grain, ore and oil – and the core of the game is speculating on these resources. Buying low and selling high generates the cash needed to fund armies, develop tech, or, of course, build atomic bombs.
Combat is resolved mainly with dice rolls, but outcomes are also shaped by supply levels, weapon type (conventional, biological, chemical or nuclear) and force strength. When a player opts for a nuclear strike, tiny plastic mushroom‑cloud tokens mark the blasted regions; if a nuclear winter ensues, everyone loses. Beyond conventional warfare, the supply‑demand system adds an economic simulation vibe reminiscent of a wartime stock exchange. Playtime ranges from two to five hours, depending on player count and aggressiveness. The rules are concise, yet the blend of war, politics and economics creates a deep, tense experience perfect for fans of high‑risk decisions and long‑form strategy. While numerous expansions have been released, the base game already delivers a complete, challenging session where every move can lead to global conquest or catastrophic nuclear fallout.
