About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready to kick the social ladder or, perhaps, climb a rung! In Tax the Rich, you'll dive into a trick-taking game that isn't afraid to satirize social classes, featuring a deck ranging from the Poor to the President. Each round kicks off with a quick bid to determine the trump suit and how many tricks you need to snag for bonus points. The catch? You play as a team, so you'll need to coordinate with your partner to meet the target. Higher cards, representing the wealthiest and most powerful, usually dominate the game. But beware: if all remaining cards in your hand bear a flag symbol, you can initiate a revolution! Doing so exposes your cards for all to see for the rest of the round, and the hierarchy flips: now, the lowest-ranked cards become the most powerful. To spice things up, the game includes thirteen special rule cards that grant unique abilities to characters like Workers (who unionize!), Billionaires (with their power grabs!), and the Police (with surprise frisks!). You can shuffle these rules for variety or follow suggested scenarios. And for an extra layer of strategy, an optional variant allows cards with a feminist icon to trigger a feminist revolution, further boosting the value of female characters. Tax the Rich is fast-paced, fun, and full of twists, perfect for anyone who enjoys a card game with a touch of humor and social commentary.
