About the game
What you do in a play session
Amid World War II, the German war machine seemed invincible, yet the High Command was riddled with rivalries, intrigue and clashing agendas. The Other Side of the Hill puts up to four players in the shoes of generals who must cooperate to hold back the Allies while secretly pushing their own commanders and interest groups – the technical Professionals, the traditional Old Guard, or the anti‑Nazi Dissidents. Players manage command cards, historical events and zones of control, gaining prestige by scooping easy early‑war victories and later dodging blame for disasters as the Eastern and Western fronts stabilize. Hidden objectives add a traitor element: someone might be sabotaging the war effort behind the scenes. The game supports competitive play for 2‑4 players, plus fully cooperative, semi‑cooperative and solo variants, so solo enthusiasts can also feel the pressure of strategic choices. Cards are packed with real‑world details about German generals, directives and the “Black Orchestra” plot, deepening immersion. With a playing time of 180‑720 minutes and a weight of 4.1/5, the title blends negotiation, politics and warfare in a dense yet approachable package for history buffs and strategy fans.
