About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine the sky about to change, and each of you has the chance to choose when to open the umbrella that will give you an advantage. In *My Own Sunny Day*, the traditional trick‑taking card game gains a poetic and strategic twist: before each round, you decide whether to declare your personal trump, which can override the usual card hierarchy. The twist is that this declaration, called the "umbrella," can only be made once per phase – the departure and the return – and the goal is not to accumulate the most victories, but to balance the number of tricks you win before and after opening your umbrella. If you win too many before, you may become vulnerable afterward; if you wait too long, you might miss the chance to use the trump at the right moment. Each trick won with or without the umbrella carries different weight in the final score: tricks with the umbrella count as positive points, while those without count negatively. The challenge, therefore, is to find the perfect timing to open and close the umbrella, considering the color of the cards in your hand and the opponents’ positions. The game is for 3 to 4 players, lasts 20 to 30 minutes, and requires attention and planning, but it isn’t overly complex – just remember that the final goal is to finish with the lowest score possible. If you enjoy card games that blend light narrative, strategic decisions, and a touch of poetry, *My Own Sunny Day* will make you think, smile, and perhaps find your own sunny day.
