About the game
What you do in a play session
Wheedle is Reiner Knizia's take on the classic Pit, swapping tiles for cards and adding a stock‑market flavor. Designed for 4‑6 players, the game starts with a deck of colored cards representing different "stocks". One card is placed face‑down in the middle, the rest are dealt to the players. When the central card flips, the frenzy begins: everyone shouts what they want to trade or collect, like "I've got yellow, who wants yellow?" or "Anyone have three greens?". Trades are completely free – any number of cards, not necessarily even – and you may also swap a card from your hand with the central one.
The goal is to be the first to hold a majority (or monopoly) of each color you possess. As soon as someone achieves that, the round ends and scoring kicks in: +5 points for the player who stopped the game, +2 for each card in a monopoly, and +1 for each card in a simple majority. There’s a penalty of –1 for every card that matches the color of the central "bankrupt" card when the round finishes. After each player has had a chance to draw once, the game ends and the highest total wins.
The gameplay is swift – about 30 minutes – and the weight is light (1.2/5), making it ideal for fans of real‑time negotiation without heavy rules. The fun comes from the makeshift stock‑exchange vibe, where loud chatter and frantic swaps create a party atmosphere. If you enjoy set collection, quick investments, and free‑form trading, Wheedle delivers all that in a compact 52‑card package. It’s perfect for groups that love a bit of noise, shouting, and seeing who can close the best deal.
