About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine the heyday of the Star Union ending in a massive burst of gravity bombs! The result? The Collapse. Planets were isolated, and civilization shattered. Now, what's left? A frantic race to see who can rebuild the empire and take command of the remnants. In Age of Wonders: Planetfall, you step into the role of a Commander for one of the six surviving factions who decided that chaos is the perfect opportunity to expand their power.
The game is an exploration journey unfolding over seven intense rounds. Each round, a new planet enters the map, and you have the chance to send your expeditions to investigate these new worlds. You'll need to do a bit of everything: face hostile units that don't want you there, study lost technologies to evolve your fleet, and claim historical landmarks to ensure your supremacy.
But don't think it's just exploration and combat. The secret to victory lies in how you manage your resources and how you prepare for the grand finale. Throughout the game, you accumulate Empire Points through various actions, such as defeating enemies or performing strategic operations on planets. However, the game has a special twist: the end of the game is decided by specific objectives listed on a goal sheet. In other words, being strong isn't enough; you need to be strategic to meet the victory conditions that arise. It's a fast-paced management game with weighty decisions, perfect for those who want a dose of sci-fi without needing an entire afternoon for slow exploration. Will your faction become the next great power in the galaxy, or just another fragment lost in the vacuum?
