About the game
What you do in a play session
Wandering through the winding paths of a magical forest, Alice stumbles upon the Queen of Hearts' royal garden, which is in total disarray. The gardeners have been thrown off their tasks because the Queen has set impossible demands: trees must be far apart, rose bushes the most lavish in all Wonderland, and chess pieces need a clear path to march. Your goal is to arrange the garden's plants and objects so you satisfy as many of these demands as possible before the Queen loses her temper.
Each player receives a personal board divided into a grid of squares. From a common pool of polyomino tiles – reminiscent of Tetris pieces – you will select, place, and rotate flowers, trees, rose bushes, and even chess pieces. Placement rules are straightforward: a tile must fit entirely within the grid without overlapping existing pieces. Every round features an open drafting phase where all players see the same tile options and, in turn order, pick the one that best fits their plan.
The "I Cut, You Choose" mechanic appears when a player splits the remaining tiles into two piles and the next player decides which pile to take, adding a layer of indirect negotiation. As the board fills, you aim to meet specific requirements – for example, leaving the maximum distance between two trees or completing a whole row of rose bushes. Each fulfilled requirement grants victory points.
The game ends after the round in which a player cannot place any tile from the supply onto their board. The player with the most points – the one who most pleased the Queen – wins. With a playing time of 30‑45 minutes, a light rule‑weight (1.44/5), and support for 1‑4 players, Alice's Garden is perfect for fans of tile‑placement puzzles, draft decisions, and a whimsical literary theme.
